Day 3 at Cave Creek

This female Blue-throated Hummingbird was taken just outside our door.
This Scott's Oriole and the Mexican Jay were taken from the breakfast table through the glass.

Morning of Day 3 at Cave Creek

These four pictures are what we saw from the front of Birders B&B at sunrise.

Day 2

This is the Western Kingbird from yesterdays post. The blog ate the picture.

Day 2 Portal

The first pic was the last of the morning and it was a very elusive Brown-crested Flycatcher.Picture 2 is a Western Kingbird in flight and this really shows how good the autofocus is in a Cannon 7D. Then we spotted a nesting Raven. The pair of Green-winged Teal was a real surprise since we were out in the middle of the desert at a small irrigation pond near Rodeo, New Mexico.

Day 2 Portal

Took 2 hours to get the picture of the Elegant Trogan before breakfast. The Curve-Billed Thrasher was a little easier to come by. I spotted this birder standing aside of a blooming cactus.

Day 1 - Portal, Arizona

This is most of Portal about a mile from Cave Creek National Forest. The first bird we saw is a Black Phoebe and the second bird is an Acorn Woodpecker.

Black Fox Squirrel

This black Fox Squirrel is a new addition to the various gray , brown, and redish-brown fox squirrels that inhabit our farm. I suspect that we have at least four pairs. They come into the yard to feed under the bird feeders.
